Water Ahead is the honest story of one man’s journey through that kind of desert.

It’s a story about childhood soil, early faith, calling, ministry, striving, disappointment, success that didn’t satisfy, loss, restlessness, surrender, grace, and the faithful love of a Father who never stopped forming what He had begun.

But this book isn’t only about where I've been.

It’s an invitation to consider where God may be meeting you.

Because the desert isn’t proof that God has abandoned you. Sometimes it becomes the place where He lovingly exposes what has been buried, patiently restores what has grown dry, and faithfully forms what He has been growing all along.

Water Ahead is written for anyone who has ever wondered:

The Water Ahead Small Group Journey is a 10-week, Christ-centered experience designed to help individuals and groups move beyond simply reading a story and begin honestly reflecting on their own walk with God.

Based on Water Ahead: A Story of Desert, Drift, and the God Who Was Still Forming Me, this journey invites participants to explore the biblical and practical themes of desert seasons, gradual drift, disappointment, substitute wells, surrender, restoration, and Becoming. Each weekly session creates space for Scripture, honest conversation, personal reflection, guided prayer, and practical next steps.

This is not just a study about someone else’s story. It is an invitation to slow down long enough to let God examine, comfort, correct, and form what is happening beneath the surface of your own life.

For group leaders, the companion Leader’s Guide provides thoughtful, prayerful support to help guide meaningful conversations with confidence, humility, and care. Whether you are an experienced leader or stepping into group leadership for the first time, the guide helps you create a safe, hope-filled environment where people can reflect honestly and recognize the faithful work of God in their lives.
